Banff Springs Hotel is one of the most beautiful and famous hotels in North America. The hotel, located in the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park, lies just 80 miles west of Calgary on the scenic trans-Canada highway. It was designed and built in 1888 with a style reminiscent of a stately 19th century Scottish Baronial castle. This historic hotel offers a variety of rooms in which to stay and restaurants in which to dine. This nine-story stone castle of a hotel is still the best address in Banff: especially so after the renovation of all the rooms was finished in 1997. This hotel doesn't offer the largest rooms in Banff, though the amenities are all superlative. With the views, the spa, and the near-pageantry of service, this is still the most amazing resort in an area blessed with beautiful hotels. The Springs maintains a staff of 1,200 and holds medieval banquets for convention groups. There are15 different food outlets, from five star restaurans to morning snack bars, and three cocktail lounges. In addition, there are 50 stores and boutiques within the magnificent hotel and outside the hotel is a 27-hole golf course that considered one of the most scenic in the world. You can even watch herds of elk on the golf course as you dine on the banks of the Bow River.
